Palazzo Corsini, Wedding in Florence, Ashley & Piero
PALAZZO CORSINI SULL’ARNO, FIRENZE (TOSCANA)
Ashley and Piero chose to celebrate their wedding in Florence with a clear vision: an urban wedding immersed in the city’s history, yet undeniably regal, elegant, and timeless. Born and raised in Florence, Piero now lives in Australia, where after a career in criminology he followed his passion for wine and became a sommelier. Ashley, originally from Australia, immediately fell in love with both Piero’s hometown and its extraordinary heritage. Together, they decided there could be no more meaningful place to begin this new chapter than Florence itself. The celebrations began with a welcome dinner at the Circolo Canottieri Firenze, located directly on the banks of the Arno beneath the iconic Ponte Vecchio. As the sun set over the river and the city lights began to reflect on the water, guests arriving from Australia and around the world gathered for an intimate evening filled with laughter, conversations, and anticipation for the celebrations ahead. The following day, the couple exchanged vows in the magnificent Basilica di Santa Maria Novella, one of Florence’s most important and historically significant churches. Founded by the Dominican order in the thirteenth century, the basilica is renowned for its extraordinary Renaissance façade designed by Leon Battista Alberti and for housing masterpieces that have shaped the artistic legacy of Florence for centuries. Its grandeur, symmetry, and sense of history provided an unforgettable setting for the ceremony. From there, guests made their way to the breathtaking Palazzo Corsini sull’Arno, one of the city’s most prestigious aristocratic residences. Built in the seventeenth century for the influential Corsini family, the palace remains one of the finest examples of Florentine Baroque architecture. Overlooking the Arno River, its monumental halls, frescoed ceilings, and elegant terraces offer some of the most captivating views in Florence, creating a setting that feels both grand and deeply connected to the city’s history. The reception unfolded within this remarkable architectural masterpiece around three spectacular imperial tables. Surrounded by centuries of art and craftsmanship, guests dined in a setting that perfectly embodied the elegance of Florence. The floral design embraced a sophisticated ultra white aesthetic, featuring abundant white blooms arranged with a minimalist approach that highlighted the beauty of the palace rather than competing with it. The result was refined, contemporary, and effortlessly luxurious. As daylight faded and candlelight filled the historic rooms, the atmosphere shifted from formal elegance to joyful celebration. The contrast between the grandeur of the palace and the energy of the guests created something truly special. Music echoed through the halls, glasses were raised in heartfelt toasts, and before long the dance floor became the center of an unforgettable party. Ashley and Piero’s wedding was a celebration of contrasts in the most beautiful sense: Australian spirit meeting Florentine heritage, contemporary style meeting centuries of history, urban sophistication meeting timeless romance. Above all, it was a love letter to Florence itself, a city that continues to enchant generations with its beauty, culture, and unparalleled sense of grandeur.
